Jury comment:
In this calendar the American artist T. S. Harris presents us with a dazzling vision of stand holidays. The choice of motifs, her realistic painting style and the multicolour colour scheme connect the past with the present. Inspired by photographs and films of the mid-twentieth century, Harris’s paintings are colourful and arouse bittersweet longing. Her figures are stylish, elegant and confidently wear scarlet lipstick. They lie dreaming by the pool or stroll along the beach promenade. The artist paints fleeting moments and lets the context of the action disappear in the snapshots and narrow picture details. This is precisely why the figures seem so mysterious and encourage viewers to make their own films. Head cinema! Harris’ art career began at a young age. Her works are now shown in museums and galleries, decorating book covers, magazines and this annual calendar. Bronze was awarded by the GREGOR jury.
